A FOCUS ON THE THREE R's OF CE:
ROLES; RESILIENCE; and RESOURCES

This year's conference honors the Native American culture that has shaped the history of Syracuse, our host city. Native American folklore recounts the story of the Three Sisters -- represented by Corn, Beans, and Squash. The seeds from these plants are sown together in a mound of earth to sustain and support one another as they grow.

The story teaches us the value of sustainability -- the sturdy corn stalks support the twining beans, the squash vines trap moisture for the growing crops, while the beans replenish the soil with nutrients needed to flourish.

As we face the challenges of a difficult global economy, we can apply the story of the Three Sisters to our own profession. Our "seeds" focus on Roles, Resiliency, and Resources. The Roles we can play in revitalizing our communities. The Resiliency we can provide during times of change. The Resources we will need to be effective in a changing environment.

Join us at the Syracuse Sheraton University Hotel and Conference Center on the campus of Syracuse University, and learn how to "sow the seeds of sustainability" to ensure success.
