Dr. Novak serves as associate vice president for continuous education and
distance learning at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and is
responsible for executive leadership and policy recommendations for a complex
system of continuing education units, distance learning, and off-campus
learning facilities. He is also an adjunct graduate faculty member for the
Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations and the Rutgers University
Graduate School of Education. Rich is the immediate past-president of the
University Continuing Education Association, the principal US organization
for continuing higher education.
Dr. Novak also directs RutgersOnline, the centralized home for all Rutgers
University online instruction. Over 3,000 students enroll annually in fully
online credit courses and over 35,000 students enroll annually in web-enhanced
courses, using the eCollege course support platform licensed through Rutgers
Division of Continuous Education and Outreach.
Rutgers University is one of the nation’s major public research institutions
of higher education, with more than 50,000 degree-seeking students on campuses
in the major urban centers of Camden, Newark, and New Brunswick, in New
Jersey, and over 125,000 noncredit continuing professional education registrations
