Dr. Lori Quigley serves as an academic administrator at Buffalo State.
She administers the college teacher programs within the Teacher Education
Unit, serves as the college’s NCATE Coordinator, and facilitates the
growth of Native American programs, course offerings, and recruitment at
the college.
Prior to being appointed associate dean, Dr. Quigley was an associate professor
in the college’s department of Elementary Education and Reading, where
she she was the Graduate Reading Program Coordinator and Literacy Center
Director.
Dr. Quigley has also served as project director and principal investigator
of the Seneca Language Research Grant Program for the Seneca Nation of Indians.
She had earlier served as interim education director for the Seneca Nation.
Dr. Quigley received a bachelor of arts degree in mass communications from
St. Bonaventure University and a master’s degree in mass communication
from Fordham University. She earned a Ph.D. in language, learning, and literary
from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Education.
The National Federation of Just Communities of Western New York, Inc. honored
Dr. Quigley with the Community Leader Award in Education in 2008. She was
the recipient of the Hackman Research residency from the NYS Archives for
the purpose of researching Thomas Indian School archival records, and was
awarded the President’s Medal for Excellence in the Promotion of Equity
and Campus Diversity from Buffalo State. In 2006, Dr. Quigley was the recipient
of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Research and Scholarship. She received
a U. S. presidential appointment to the National Advisory Council on Indian
Education, where she currently serves as chair.
