Excelsior College
Ebersole is president of Excelsior College, home of America’s largest
nursing program and one of the country’s oldest distance education
and assessment institutions. Prior to Excelsior, he served as Associate
Provost at Boston University. During his years at BU, Ebersole designed
and developed that institution’s online education program. Other positions
have included senior administrative roles at Colorado State University and
the University of California, Berkeley. As Dean of the School of Management
at John F. Kennedy University, in the late 1980’s, he pioneered in
the delivery of the first online degree program from an accredited institution.
Ebersole holds graduate degrees in both business and public administration,
as well as an EdS from The George Washington University. He held a Fellowship
in Business and Government at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government
in the fall of 2005, conducting research on innovation in higher education.
Prior to his career in higher education, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard
and is a retired Commander.
