Emily Richardson

Dean of University College
Widener University
As the chief academic officer of University College, the non-traditional undergraduate division of Widener University, Dr. Richardson oversees operations on three campuses. University College operates evening, weekend, online and hybrid courses for 17 different programs including certificate, associate and bachelor degrees offering approximately 115 classes each semester to a student population of just over 500 part-time learners. She was instrumental in opening the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) in September 2004 at the new Exton, PA, campus devoted to non-traditional learners. OLLI provides opportunities for intellectual development and social interaction for mature adults (55+) in an academic cooperative run by its members who volunteer their time and talents. In addition, Dean Richardson has the responsibility for the Lifelong Learning and Professional Development Initiative (50 seminars each semester for the professional development of University employees), and dual enrollment for high school students. Emily has served as the Chair of the Commission on Learning, Instruction and Technology, and represented all of the commissions on the Executive Board of UCEA from 2006 to 2008. In October 2008, Widener University was the host for the Mid-Atlantic region UCEA meeting at the Hotel DuPont in Delaware. Emily is currently the President of the Mid-Atlantic Region.
