Darcie Slanker Milazzo
Associate Dean for Continuing, Professionaland Corporate Education
Georgetown University
Milazzo is responsible for non-credit, professional certificate and customized
educational programs and the operation of The Center for Continuing and
Professional Education at Georgetown University. Darcie is a designer of
highly experiential, context-based and academically challenging educational
programming. Since joining SCS, she has lead the design and launch of executive
certificate programs and the creation of executive education institutes
for leaders in health care, for-profit companies and government organizations
across the world.
Milazzo began her career in Washington, DC, gaining professional experience
in corporate training, product development, and best practices research
for The Advisory Board Company and Corporate Executive Board and Population
Action International. She has achieved national notice for her publications
and training on youth workforce development and as an invited presenter,
she has addressed community-based strategic planning matters at state, national
and international conferences, including the U.S. Department of Labor Youth
Development Symposium, Building Better Opportunities for Ohio's Youth Conference,
National Association of Job Training Assistance Annual Meeting, Department
of Youth Services, Division of Children and Families National Youth Summit
and the Global Youth Employment Summit in Alexandria, Egypt.
Milazzo was co-founder and co-director of The Ohio State University's LearningWork
Connection where she facilitated the development of the Governor's Workforce
Policy Board state-wide strategic plan for youth and other programming to
increase effectiveness of youth workforce initiatives across Ohio. A natural
collaborator, she worked with the state departments of Job and Family Services,
Development and Education to carry out the legislative mandates of the Workforce
Investment Act. She was the chief architect of a training and technical
assistance plan resulting in significant increases in the state's performance
on federally mandated performance measures.
As director of her own consultancy, Community Engagement, Darcie has provided
performance measurement, strategic planning, program evaluation, education
experience design services to state and local governments and non-profit
and for profit companies.
Milazzo has a Master of Arts in Higher and Postsecondary Education from
the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Communication from
Ohio University.
